Athletic Activity Chart - Current Standing

The Webelos Scout program is a transition program between Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. The boy becomes a Webelos Scout upon graduation from the Bear program in the spring of third grade. He has all summer to get started on Webelos activities. Boys new to Cub Scouting can become Webelos if they are 10 years old or have completed third grade, and have earned the Bobcat badge.

The Webelos Scout advancement plan has three parts;  the Webelos badge, the 20 activity badges, and the Arrow of Light. As soon as a boy joins the Webelos den he begins working immediately on the Webelos activity badges and the requirements for the Webelos rank.  After he has earned the Webelos badge, he begins work on the requirements for the Arrow of Light award. As he is earning these he is required to earn eight of the 20 available activity badges.  Certain activity badges are required for earning the Webelos badge and the Arrow of Light award, while others may be selected by the boy.  The badges are organized into 5 activity badge groups:

Physical Skills Aquanaut Athlete Fitness* Sportsman
Mental Skills Artist Scholar Showman Traveler
Community Citizen* Communicator Family Member Readyman**
Technology Craftsman Engineer Handyman Scientist
Outdoor Forester Geologist Naturalist Outdoorsman**

*Required for the Webelos badge.
**Required for the Arrow of Light Award
The green highlighted Activity badges rely heavily on home activities. Once completed, the scout will present his findings to the den to receive credit and have their book signed by the den leader.
The orange highlighted Activity badges rely heavily on outdoor camping trips.

The Scout receives a pin for completing each activity badge. Pins are displayed on the WEBELOS colors, which are the gold, green, and red ribbons worn on the right sleeve. . The Webelos den leader approves the scout’s work. This is an important step in the boy’s transition to a Boy Scout troop. All requirements for the Webelos badge, Arrow of Light Award and activity badges are found in the Webelos Scout Book.

Compass Points
After you've earned the Webelos badge, you can earn the compass points emblem. It is awarded after you earn seven activity badges, four more in addition to the three you earned for the Webelos badge. Wear your compass points emblem attached to the button on the right pocket of the Webelos uniform shirt.

After you earn the compass points emblem,   you'll receive a metal compass point for each four additional activity badges you earn. Pin these compass points on the emblem in the "E," "W," or "S" positions, in any order you choose.

You can earn the emblem and all three compass points by completing 19 activity badges, including the three required for the Webelos Badge.

 Arrow of Light
The Arrow of Light is the highest achievement that can be earned in Cub Scouting, and it is the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform.
